What is lignocellulose?

Lignocellulose is extracted from renewable raw materials. It is the most abundant polymer in nature, and therefore has the potential to become a viable eco-friendly alternative for the chemical industry as a key ingredient in the production of a wide variety of products currently reliant on the use of fossil fuels.

As part of the need for the global economy to shift towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives we have innovated a process and technology capable of converting renewable raw material into a range of economically viable bio-based products.

Our process relies on the use of ‘lignocellulose biomass’ otherwise known as ‘plant biomass’ which is the most abundant raw material in nature. In its natural state, lignocellulosic material is considered to have low value, but we have recognized its significant potential to become one of the world’s most sustainable resources and the next eco-friendly revolution of the chemical industry.

Its key components are cellulose (40-50%), hemicellulose (20-30%), and lignin (10-25%), which through our environmentally sound extraction process, we are able to fully recover. Our extraction process uses ‘green chemistry’ therefore ensuring production of zero CO2 emissions, zero process waste and zero negative impact to the environment.

We focus on researching and developing lignocellulosic material through the use of extraction technology designed to produce quality lignin that can be tailored for specific use depending on our clients’ needs.

BIOREFINERY CONCEPT: THREE STEPS TO VALUE CREATION

Lignocellulose Applications
Key Product Line

Our innovative lignocellulose processing methodology allows us to recover multiple value-add products which are refining for use in a range of industries. Through our extensive R&D efforts we are in our final stages of the development of ‘soda lignin’ and a liquid soap. Currently, we are focused on further refining our biodegradable plastics and hemicellulose products.
